When a person thinks about chiropractic care, they imagine getting comfortable on top of a massage table while a chiropractor makes adjustments to his or her back and spine. Do you know who originally discovered chiropractic care? How about how it became so popular? There are a lot of interesting secrets about chiropractic care most people do not know.

1. A Quack Originally Discovered Chiropractic Care

Daniel David Palmer is recognized as the founder of chiropractic care. He is also considered to be a quack because of some of his unrealistic theories connected to chiropractic care. Among his many beliefs and philosophies, he believed 95 percent of all diseases could be cured with chiropractic care.

2. Chiropractic Care Became Popular By The Quack's Son

Bartlett Joshua Palmer, the son of Daniel Palmer, is recognized as the developer of chiropractic care as well as a fraud. Many believe him to be a fraud because of the controversy surrounding the death of his father.

In 1913, his father was ran over during a parade and passed away just a few weeks later. Many people believe the death of his father was no accident because Bartlett did not waste any time selling information about chiropractic care and subluxation for a significant amount of money after his father passed away.

With all of the money he made using what many believed to be his father's findings, he started one of the very first radio stations in the United States. The radio station featured lectures by Palmer about chiropractic care.

3. A Chiropractor Does Not Fix You

Chiropractors are not magic, they will not fix your back just by making a few adjustments to your spine. What a chiropractor does is restore the range of motion to the joints in your body. This relieves tension in your muscles and nerves which allows your body to heal itself on its own terms. A chiropractor just sets in motion the body's ability to heal itself naturally.

4. Chiropractic Knowledge Goes Beyond Your Spine

A chiropractor can offer you more than just advice on spine and back adjustments. Chiropractors often double as health and wellness coaches. They can give advice on nutrition, ergonomics, lifestyle choices, and physical fitness. Some chiropractors even specialize in certain areas such as pediatrics, pregnancy, or sports rehabilitation.

As you can see, chiropractic care has a very rich and exciting history. Furthermore, it is about more than just finding relief for a pain in the middle of your back. A chiropractor (such as one from Grand Chiropractic) can improve a number of different aspects of your life.
